Dr. Ian Canepa DMD MS

Dr. Ian Canepa’s journey to becoming an orthodontist is rooted in both a passion for science and a commitment to providing exceptional care.

After attending St. Christopher Elementary School and St. Ignatius High School, Dr. Canepa went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a focus in History from Tulane University in New Orleans. He then returned to Cleveland, where he received his D.M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine and assisted in reasearch on pediatric airways disorder prevalence.   Dr. Canepa furthered his education at Case Western Reserve University, where he earned his Master of Orthodontics, completing his master’s thesis on the relationship between 3-D printing resolution and the quality of fit of clear retainers.

Dr. Ian is highly skilled in various orthodontic techniques, including advanced orthodontic biomechanics, Phase I early intervention, and comprehensive clear aligner treatment for both teenagers and adults. His research and clinical experience give him a unique perspective on modern orthodontics, enabling him to provide tailored, high-quality care to every patient. He stays up to date on all of the trends in orthodontics as a member of the Greater Cleveland Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, Cleveland Society of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. 

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Canepa enjoys cheering on Cleveland's sports teams and closely following college football. A marathon runner, he completed the Cleveland Marathon in 2021 and continues to run for fun.  Dr. Canepa and his wife, Alex, are proud residents of Rocky River, where they love spending time outdoors on the local walking paths, with their daughter Lennon and Staffordshire terrier, Ava, by their side. One of his favorite hobbies is cooking, whether he’s experimenting with new recipes or entertaining friends and family during the holidays.
