Our Services

Phase I - Early Intervention

Smiling girl at the dentist getting a high five.

Typically starting in ages 7-9, we aim to identify and correct problems that are better treated now than waiting until they are more severe in the traditional phase of treatment.

These problems include crossbites, open bites (thumb sucking), and when there is not enough space for all of the permanent teeth to erupt.  Typical treatments include an expander and limited braces with a treatment time around 12-18 months.

Dr. Ian specifically studied early treatment in residency and afterwards with Dr. Charles Canepa.  He enjoys working with kids, and will curate his treatment plan to the needs of your child and talk through it with both of you to ensure there are no surprises.

Traditional Braces

Typically used in the traditional, permanent tooth phase of braces, but many times is a part of our early treatment as well.

We have metal and esthetic rhodium brackets to correct a multitude of malocclusions in adolescents and adults.  In some treatment plans we will have braces with an expander, bite correction appliance, or have you wear rubber bands between your upper and lower teeth to perfect your bite.

Typically appointments are 6-8 weeks between unless we are fine tuning your smile at the end of treatment.  Each treatment plan is specifically made and will be carefully explained so you and or your child know just what to expect.

Expanders

Bite Correction

Sometimes we need the help of an expander to correct bite issues and gain space for all of the teeth before we place braces.

Using our 3D scanner, we have your applaince 3D sintered to be a perfect fit for your teeth making placement a seemless and painless process.  Once your expander is placed, it is already activated and expands on its own, gently and consistently to a pre-determined position which Dr. Canepa will evaluate and activate if needed.  No more having to remember to crank or pinched gums on placement!

They typically remain bonded in for the first 6-8 months of treatment.

Bite Correction

Like with expanders, sometimes we use bite correction appliances before the braces go on or with the braces to make sure your straight teeth fit together correctly when you bite.  We often use these appliances when the coordination is a bit too much for rubber bands to accomplish the job.    Many times we can correct your bite in the 6 months before placing your braces! Dr. Canepa will review your bite with you and if needed, what to expect with these applainces.

Clear Aligners

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are a great option for many malocclusions.  Through Dr. Canepa's special education and his detailed planning, you would be surprised what can be treated with clear aligners!  They are worn 20 hours a day, and changed every 7 days.  Many cases are treated in around 12 months with apointments every 10-12 weeks.  Perfectly suited as an esthetic option for a busy lifestyle.

Retainers

Clear Aligners

Retainers are an essential part of treatment.  Clear retainers, worn at night time are Dr. Canepa's preferred method to maintaining your beautiful smile.  They are ready immediately upon braces being removed so there is no time for your teeth to move.  We use digital scanning technology so don't worry about the impressions of the past.
